Thanksgiving is a time to gather in the comfort of family and friends but it is also a time to remember those in need. Each year, for almost a decade, my friends at Foster Farms have partnered with local food banks throughout California and the Pacific Northwest to help provide over 500,000 holiday meals to families in need.

And when devastating fires struck the Napa Valley this time last year, Foster Farms donated over $100,000 and 1,000 turkeys to the Redwood Empire foodbank.

Almost 1 in 6 Americans suffer from food insufficiency and do not receive the USDA daily recommended calorie intake. The problem is especially acute among young children and seniors.

This holiday season if you would like to join Foster Farms in trying to make a difference in your community, please contact the California Association of Foodbanks, Oregon Foodbank or, in the state of Washington, Northwest Harvest. Let’s make it a happy holiday for all.
